I am a highly sensitive person, the parent of a highly sensitive child and an experienced counsellor. I integrate my knowledge, experience and counselling skills to offer highly sensitive people and parents of highly sensitive children a one to one counselling/mentoring service. This can be face to face (when COVID-19 restrictions allow), by telephone or online video call using FaceTime or Zoom.
How can I help?
As a counsellor and mentor I provide a person-centred approach through a supportive relationship which integrates empathy, practical advice, guidance and emotional support without judgement.
High sensitivity has a massive impact on my family’s life and coming to understand the trait has transformed our lives – for the better. Before we understood high sensitivity, we were bumbling about in the dark; now we’re in the light.
What is it like working with me?
For the Highly Sensitive Person
I can help you to further deepen your knowledge of high sensitivity and better understand what its means to be a highly sensitive person. My counselling skills and experience mean I can offer you emotional support by providing a safe relationship for you to talk through difficulties. Having regular dedicated time to focus on tuning in to your inner world and reflecting on experiences and interactions can greatly improve your self understanding, your relationships and your personal growth.
For parents of a Highly Sensitive Child
By focusing on the parent/child relationship I can help you to further deepen your knowledge of high sensitivity so you can better understand your child. I can get to know how things are between you and your child and offer a different perspective. In my experience there is no one fix all strategy as all family dynamics are different. My approach is to use my counselling skills and experience to walk alongside you as a parent and use our relationship to explore the relationship you have between you and your child and perhaps other family members. This process can help you find new ways of being, understanding and relating that can improve things for you all.
“Finding the right counsellor who can understand high sensitivity is not an easy task. As a highly sensitive parent of a highly sensitive child I was very lucky to find James. Working with James was like a journey full of discoveries which I wasn’t even expecting to find. Throughout our work I always felt amazingly supported, understood and guided in the way which gently but surely stimulated a progress of the therapy. James’ approach is very holistic and crafted to individual needs of the client. This allowed me to progress in my own pace and go deeper within to better understand myself, my children and dynamic of the whole family. My work with James helped me to learn how to see high sensitivity from a different perspective and kicked off a process of transforming myself as a person and a parent” Urszula.
